It was barely sunrise on Saturday when Delhi’s emergency helplines buzzed with an alarming call. Around 6:30 AM, the Delhi Fire Department received a chilling threat from a Najafgarh-based school — a bomb had allegedly been planted.
Within minutes, the news spread. More calls followed, targeting Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Krishna Model Public School, and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya. The calm of a regular school morning turned into confusion and fear as police sirens echoed across the capital.
Delhi Police swung into action. Bomb disposal squads, fire tenders, and emergency units rushed to the schools.
Children were evacuated in haste — some guided by teachers into open grounds, others sent back home directly from school buses. At DPS Dwarka, parents were urgently told to pick up their children:
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, the school will remain closed today. Mid-term examinations are postponed,” read a circular issued by the school.
By mid-morning, campuses once filled with chatter stood empty, sealed off as officers combed every corner.
Despite the panic, no suspicious object was found in any of the schools. A senior police officer reassured:
“We are thoroughly checking the campuses. Nothing suspicious has been found yet.”
The relief, however, could not fully mask the anxiety of parents who had already seen a rising trend of such threats this year.
Saturday’s threats were not isolated. Delhi has been caught in a wave of hoax bomb calls through 2025.
Experts warn that such repeated hoaxes are designed to create chaos and fear, even when no physical danger is found.
For students, the impact is real. Mid-term examinations had to be abruptly cancelled. Teachers, parents, and children were left grappling with uncertainty.
As one DPS Dwarka parent put it:
“Our children’s studies are being disrupted again and again. Even if these are hoaxes, the fear is real.”
In response to the surge of threats, the Delhi High Court earlier this year directed schools to:
September 20th will be remembered as a day when Delhi’s classrooms turned into crisis zones. While no bombs were found, the incident has once again highlighted the psychological toll of repeated hoax threats — disrupting education, straining police resources, and shaking public confidence in safety measures.
The affected schools included Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Krishna Model Public School, and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, along with a Najafgarh-based school where the first threat was reported.
No. Delhi Police and bomb disposal squads carried out detailed searches, but no suspicious objects or explosives were found.
The first call came in around 6:30 AM on September 20, 2025, from a school in Najafgarh. More schools received similar threats soon after.
Yes. Delhi has seen a wave of hoax bomb threats in 2025. Over 150 schools and colleges in Delhi-NCR have been targeted in the past eight months.
The threats have caused academic disruptions, especially during exam season, and created psychological stress among parents and children despite being hoaxes.
