PM Praises Op Sindoor Ahead of Monsoon Session

As the Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a resolute tone by showering praise on "Operation Sindoor," the precision military strikes conducted by India in May 2025. In his customary address to the media before the session, the Prime Minister described the operation as a "Vijay Utsav" – a celebration of victory – highlighting the "100% success" achieved by the Indian armed forces against terror infrastructure.

Operation Sindoor was launched in the aftermath of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives. India's response involved a calibrated, tri-services action that targeted terrorist camps and bases across the Line of Control and deeper within Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan. The Indian Air Force played a pivotal role, conducting precision strikes on air defense systems and airbases.

PM Modi, in his remarks, emphasized the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation. "The target set by the Indian Army in Operation Sindoor was achieved 100%. Under Operation Sindoor, the houses of the masters of terrorists were razed to the ground within 22 minutes," he stated. He further added that the world had taken note of India's indigenous military capabilities, expressing that "the world's attraction towards the 'Made in India' weapons being made by India is increasing."

Beyond merely commending the armed forces, the Prime Minister used the occasion to underline a broader message of national unity and resolve. He lauded the efforts of multi-party delegations that visited various world capitals after the operation, successfully "exposing Pakistan's role" as a hub of terrorism. This, he suggested, created a positive global atmosphere and opened doors to India's perspective.

The Prime Minister's strong endorsement of Operation Sindoor comes against the backdrop of the Opposition's insistence on a comprehensive parliamentary debate on the matter. Opposition parties have been vocal in demanding clarifications, particularly concerning US President Donald Trump's repeated claims of mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan during the conflict. They have also sought discussions on alleged intelligence "lapses" leading to the Pahalgam attack.

By proactively praising Operation Sindoor as a "celebration," Prime Minister Modi's address aimed to pre-empt and frame the upcoming debate from a position of strength and national pride. The government has indicated its readiness for a detailed discussion in both Houses, with significant time allotted for the same.

The Prime Minister's speech on the opening day of the Monsoon Session not only aimed to commend the armed forces but also to rally national sentiment around a perceived military success and project India's growing self-reliance in defense. As Parliament prepares for what promises to be a stormy session, the government will undoubtedly seek to use the "Operation Sindoor" narrative as a cornerstone of its defense and a symbol of its commitment to national security.
