In his customary address to the media before the session, the Prime Minister described the operation as a "Vijay Utsav" – a celebration of victory – highlighting the "100% success" achieved by the Indian armed forces against terror infrastructure.
Operation Sindoor was launched in the aftermath of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives. Opposition parties have been vocal in demanding clarifications, particularly concerning US President Donald Trump's repeated claims of mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan during the conflict. They have also sought discussions on alleged intelligence "lapses" leading to the Pahalgam attack.
By proactively praising Operation Sindoor as a "celebration," Prime Minister Modi's address aimed to pre-empt and frame the upcoming debate from a position of strength and national pride. The government has indicated its readiness for a detailed discussion in both Houses, with significant time allotted for the same.
