The government provides loans to SHG up to 10 lakhs without any interest and this helps women in expanding their work.
Nayagarh’s Shining Success
The star in this scheme is the Nayagarh district, where 98 of the SHG women there earn anamount of 1 lakh rupees or more per annum. Other districts such as Kendrapara, Cuttack, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur are just behind them and had a success rate of 97 per cent. The vision of Odisha is the provision of at least five Lakhpati Didis in each village by 2027.
More Than Just Money
It is not the money scheme; Lakhpati Didi Scheme is also about giving women respect and confidence. Even women like Sumati Mundari of Keonjhar who earns 1.6 lakh annually through poultry farming, dairy farming and agriculture are heads now in their communities. The skills taught by SHGs to women include business management and financial planning which are enabling them to make family decisions. This program also makes young girls understand that women can become strong and successful. Through cooperation with one another, SHG women feel united and empowered because they help one another bringing the family atmosphere to their villages of Odisha.
Building a Stronger Odisha
The plan is defining a brighter future of the rural Odisha. The state is attaining an average of 1.7 million Lakhpati Didis, a move that is threading down the poverty levels and enhancing the economy. Females spend their income to educate children, buy medicine and save, which makes the lives of their families better. The government support has been enhanced to 2 times the size of Revolving Fund (to 60,000 rupees) and Community Investment Fund (to 60 lakhs per block). Fairs such as Subhadra Shakti Melas and Subhadra Shakti Cafes that SHG women organise assist them to sell their products and access foreign markets.
