From Delivery Boy to Deputy Collector

We have all heard about dedication and passion. We often read how some people prepare for hours and hours every day for years to crack civil service exams. Some even come from financially stable families, have all the resources, and still, they face failure again and again. After a few attempts, many of them lose hope and quit. It’s heartbreaking — but it’s also a part of the reality.

But today, BIGSTORY brings you a very different journey. One that goes beyond books and coaching. One that’s not just about studying hard, but about surviving while dreaming. This is a story of a young man who didn’t have enough to eat at times, who worked as a delivery boy to support his studies, and who still believed in himself enough to keep going.

He didn’t give up — not even when things were at their worst.

This isn’t just a success story. It’s a reminder that true dedication comes from the heart—not from comfort.

Stay with us as we share the journey of someone who delivered food by day and chased dreams by night… and who finally made it as a Deputy Collector - Suraj Kumar Yadav.

In a small village called Kapilo in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, Suraj Kumar Yadav grew up seeing struggle every single day. There were days when his family didn’t even have enough food to eat. His father worked as a mason, earning just enough to survive. Managing without finance was a tough challenge. But even in such hard times, Suraj didn’t give up. He didn’t dream of running away — he dreamt of rising. Not just for himself, but for his family… and for every person who felt left behind in rural India.

A Ride Between Hunger and Hope

Whenever we travel, we often carry more luggage than dreams. But when Suraj Yadav left his hometown for Ranchi, it was the opposite. He carried less luggage —but a heart full of dreams and a clear mission. The journey to crack the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) 2023 exam was not easy for Suraj. It was full of struggles, empty stomachs, and long tiring days on the road.

But ambition alone doesn't pay for books or rent. So, Suraj did what many wouldn’t, he became a Swiggy delivery agent by day and a Rapido rider in between, all while studying deep into the night.

Not Given, But Made by Him

He did not have a bike at first. But two friends, Rajesh Nayak and Sandeep Mandal, stepped in — not with words, but with their scholarship money, pooling together enough for Suraj to buy a second-hand bike. That bike became his compass, steering through monsoon roads, narrow lanes, and relentless deadlines.

Back-End Support, Frontline Dream

Some people start their journey from zero — and along the way, they end up inspiring many others through their story. BIGSTORY brings such powerful faces to the forefront. Suraj Yadav, Deputy Collector, whose journey is proof of what a strong will can make you achieve. But the truth is, no journey is ever easy without a little support — and in Suraj’s case, his family and friends played a big role. The JPSC Interview

The panel paused when Suraj shared his background. A delivery boy? They were sceptical. Sensing this, Suraj calmly answered every question they threw at him—even technical ones about delivery logistics. By the end, disbelief turned into respect.
